Salmon are a keystone species that are so important to many types of wildlife and our forests in BC. Fishing for salmon is a learned behavior and not one that is naturally known by young cubs. This Mama bear had triplets and here you can see her giving some of those fishing lessons to her cubs. Not long after I took this frame the cub facing mom grabbed the salmon and darted back to the shore to keep it all for himself. Such an amazing sight to witness nature unfold like this right in front of me.
