I have seen quite a few large Snapping Turtles but never a baby. They are so darn cute. This little one was walking on a rock in Guelph Ontario Canada. The Snapping Turtles are the largest freshwater Turtle in Canada and they take upwards of 15 - 20 years to mature with the female breeding around 17 - 19 years old. They only come out of the water occasionally to bask and since their plastron is so small they cannot withdraw into their shell for protection so they snap to scare away predators.
