A double-breasted cormorant dries its wings below a dam on the Humber River, a heritage river that flows through the heart of Toronto. After nearly becoming extinct on the Great Lakes due to insecticides, cormorants are making a comeback. The Government of Ontario has proposed setting a hunting bounty for these waterfowl which are first-rate fishers.
