When I visiting the area in central Newfoundland where the Caribou sometimes gather I always try to minimize any disruption to the herd. They are always cautious but if you startle them they will run and needlessly burn valuable winter energy. They shy away from the human scent but are otherwise cooperative and patient. Therefore, I should be also.
