A Majestical Great Blue

A great blue heron lands on a rock dappled with barnacles and shells. My admiration for nature and wildlife was nurtured from a young age. One of my fondest memories was when my family drove past a special pond on Heart Lake road going to Toronto. It was special to us because if we were lucky, we would catch a glimpse of a majestical great blue heron fishing or perched on a branch. For us, it was a rare and fleeting chance to see a great blue. I remember the excitement and anticipation as we were nearing the pond was almost unbearable! I am grateful to nature for its power to conjure fond childhood memories like this one. Now out on the west coast, I still get a thrill when I see this species and enjoy photographing them.
