Walking through a second-growth forest, I heard two Barred Owls hooting back and forth to one another in the eerie silence. This went on for several minutes. Listening to them carry on, I walked deeper into the forest to try and get a better view of them. I spotted this individual looking down at the snow covered forest floor. As I took photos, every now and then this wise owl starred at me with a knowing look, seemingly unaffected by my presence. Once I knew I had gotten my shot I quietly left, respecting the bird’s space. It is experiences like this which makes me highly respect and appreciate nature to the fullest.
