Taken on an early December morning in Brackendale British Columbia, this shot was actually my first attempt at taking a photograph of a bird. I had rented a large telephoto lens and headed into the woods for the morning with a friend. Not more than 5 minutes into my search for an eagle I came across this beautiful bird sitting on a branch near eye level, watching me carefully. Thankfully the bird didn't spook and I was able to capture this shot, becoming not only my favorite bird photograph but easily my best shot of the day.
