Showy lady’s slippers are the tallest native northern orchid and the most common habitat is wetlands (forested or open) and moist woods. and it flowers during the late spring when mosquito populations are at their peak. I was surounded by what seemed like thousands of mosquitos when trying to get pictures in the spring.
