This Barred Owl was actively hunting, it kept looking around and on the ground, after a few minutes of observing it dived down and caught a vole and flew away to another tree with its catch. I watched from a distance as he carefully mantled his prey looking around for other birds who might try and swipe his food, then a with quick couple of gulps it was gone.
