I watched this chickadee hop about cattails in a swamp on an early morning in May, noticing that it only stopped to peck at one every so often. My initial thought was that it was gathering nesting material, but I later learned the reason that it was being so particular was because it was foraging for moth larvae that live inside the cattail heads.
