The Purple Martin likes manmade birdhouses to nest in. In fact, it's becoming more and more rare for the species to make their own nests. They like the colonies with many nesting boxes almost like a condominium. Their houses need to be close to water. The colony seen here is at the Dick Bell Park in Ottawa.
