For the two years I've been visiting one of my favourite meadows to see if the Bushtit family has returned. And so, last March I was so happy to see the Bushtit mates had built another incredibly intricate nest above the original nest I'd discovered on an old plum tree (at first, I thought it was a bunch of Old Man's Beard lichen until I looked more closely and discovered a round opening near the top of this sock-like structure). I love how proud this Papa is and how well he guards the nest.
