For me, this photo, taken in Ruckle Provincial Park, is a quintessential Salt Spring Island image which I was fortunate to capture on my birthday last June. This White-tailed deer fawn was foraging behind the rocky mound you see in the photo. So, I waited, hoping he would climb up into view. What a fantastic gift!
