We woke early in the morning to ice covering our sailboat, the sedges, and even the still waters of the estuary. Bundled up in our warmest clothes, our breath hung heavy in the cold air as we moved into the estuary scanning for activity. We picked a spot and waited, cameras at the ready, hoping for bears to appear. Before long, this female Grizzly Bear meandered down to the water's edge, bathed in the golden glow of the early morning light.
