It was a gorgeous, bright day on a boat in Knight Inlet, BC. This small group of Transient Killer Whales showed up seemingly out of nowhere. The way the sun was hitting the glacial water and reflecting off the orca's distinctive dorsal made the entire scene glitter like diamonds. I recognized this particular whale as T019B a member of the T018/19s, who had been return visitors up the Inlet. The fresh water from the glacial run-off made the Killer Whales less buoyant, providing a dazzling display of strength as they thrusted their bodies up through the fresh top layer of water.
