Bonsai Bear Hemlock

Bonsai Bear Hemlock

A day so foggy you could scarcely see the shoreline, save for the wind-battered leaning Hemlock tree that served as a navigational aid on such a day. I found it iconic in its shape and character, and it felt soothing to me. Like a bonsai tree that has been dramatically shaped by the Inlet, and appears as a comfort on grey days. On this particular day, a bear I've come to know quite well was sitting softly beneath it, scraping at mussels on the rocks below. The scene came together like a dream and made my favourite tree all the more special and monumental. The shot reminds me of the interconnectedness of life on the coast.
