When the setting sun illuminated the ears of the rabbit hiding in our garden that was the moment for this shot. Rabbit ears beside serving the obvious function of hearing they act as thermoregulators. The extensive net work of blood vessels provide a large surface area for heat exchange. These vessels dilate when the rabbit is hot, and contract when it is cool. Hence in cold weather those vessels would be barely visible. The positioning of the ears, pointing straight up, forward or resting at an angle also tells you about the state or mood of the rabbit. Do you know what this bunny's ears are saying?
