Birch seed pods are seen here encapsulated in thick layers of ice after an overnight freezing rain. As the picture was taken in early April it meant that in the previous fall the pods never had the chance to disperse the seeds, perhaps a consequence of climate change. I always love white birch trees and their golden yellow leaves in the fall.
