I fell in love with birding spending my summer hiking in the Yukon. I've always loved seeing animals in nature, but the experience that really got me into birding specifically was when I discover a mating pair of Rednecked Grebes who had nested in the tall grass of Hidden Lake 2 in Whitehorse. I would often return to their nest to watch the progress of their eggs hatching to chicks, and their chicks fledgling to immature adults. My favorite shot of the whole experience was the when I first spotted the chicks hitching a ride on their parents backs.
