In far northern Alberta, a stroke of misfortune led me to an incredible discovery. While searching for a lost part of my tripod in deep snow, I happened upon a remarkably tolerant boreal owl. I looked up while taking a break from shoveling and saw the owl staring back, merely feet above me. I have always been fond of this classic forest scene, but adding an elusive owl to the scene was dream-worthy!
