Following a rain shower, this cormorant was resting on a rock in the middle of the water. The St. Lawrence River was particularly calm at the end of the day. When I saw this rainbow in the distance, I immediately imagined the photo. The tide was low. I went down into the mud left by the high tide, and moved around to get this composition, placing the cormorant at the foot of the rainbow.
