Piping plovers need undisturbed beach access to raise their chicks. This adult, with chicks higher up the beach, was foraging near the water. I laid in the sand, quietly watching the family as they moved up and down the beach. I liked the contrast of this shot - though it looks lonely for the bird, the lack of people, dogs, and vehicles is necessary for them to raise their family.
