Photographing great grey owls is a unique experience. If you can find them and approach from a distance, they are generally very relaxed and will fly beside you , or over you.... sometimes flying within a metre of you. This is what happened with this owl. I had been looking in a specific area, and not seeing the owl i passed within a few feet of the owl. It flew up and away. It then flew back and past me as it was far more interested in hunting voles than in my being present.
