Spending much of last winter injured in some form or another, it had been tough to miss a large number of the backcountry days I had hoped to go on. So when my mate arrived in Whistler for a week or two in the spring and asked me if I wanted to get out into the backcountry with him, I jumped at the chance! We decided to ride some lines which, although fairly well known, are rarely skied in the the area. After skiing a couple of fun chutes, we spotted a fairly gnarly pencil chute which could link up with a fun drop at the bottom. Still recovering from my various injuries of the season, I offered to stay at the bottom and get a couple of shots. It was a blind take off, so my mate relied on my directions in order to time it perfectly, a leap of faith. I wanted to slightly overexpose the photo giving it a dreamlike quality, whilst highlighting the drop itself. A perfect moment from a perfect day.
