This summer was kind of calm on the Saint-Lawrence, the wasn't much humpack whales around but when spotted this whale can exhibit a lot of different behaviours. This behavior is called Tail Slapping, we don't know much about it, some theories says it help them stun their preys, some others says it's for communication purposes. This whale had a particular powerful tail slap, she slapt few times like crazy. I had to set a super high shutter speed in order to capture this exact moment where the tail is high up in the air.
