It was a cloudy, dark night but the KP index saw high so we went out hoping for a break in the cloud cover combined with some nice auroras. For a while I was shooting a south facing aspect thinking that it looked most likely for a cloud break in that direction. I couldn't really see what was splashing around in the water below me but surmised that it must be at least one moose. More splashing with accompanying grunts and some shadowy figures soon had us figuring that it was at least two animals; most likely a cow with calf(s). Only later in post processing was I able to appreciate that we spent at least an hour with up to four moose as our neighbours!
