This past spring we had the good fortune to discover a nesting pair of common loons. They had a shoreline nest that they frequently left to fish nearby. Although they were always watchful they never seemed agitated or panicked about our canoe presence. Especially around the nest area we were careful not to get too close or linger too long. The parents. We would watch for the next two months as they successfully raised one loonlet.
