Coastal wolves are a sub species of grey wolf who have evolved to source more than 70% of their diet from marine sources. Wolves are notoriously elusive and a challenge to locate which made spending extended time with a wolf pack observing their individual behaviours and pack dynamics even more special. We had been watching these skilled hunters for several hours as the wolves caught salmon making their way up stream to spawn. Wolves are active with the tide cycles at dawn and dusk. Low light made photographing the frenetic activity of the fishing wolves both challenging and exciting. To protect the pack, the exact location can't be divulged. The image was taken in the Great Bear Rainforest.
