On my recent trip to the outer islands off the coast of British Columbia, I was enamored with the birdlife. My focus was Coastal Wolves, but with lots of sitting and waiting at key locations the birds did not disappoint. We would head out a low tide, and on this day, the Least Sandpipers were foraging along the retreating water. I laid down flat on the sand, trying to minimize any movement, allowing these tiny birds to continue beachcombing in close proximity. This one loved the beetles. It would peck at them sending them flying across the sand, they gobble them up in a split second. This was the final moment before the beachcomber claimed its prize.
