From 1900 to 1936, the Bon Echo Inn stood where these pine trees now grow. It was built in the era when many lodges and resorts were providing increased access to the Canadian wilderness. Many artistic elite of Canada, including members of the Group of Seven, sat and worked on the porches with views of Mazinaw Rock. The early morning glimpse of colour through the pines felt like a window into these times gone by.
