Madeline Lake near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. This was my first time in the far North, and chasing the Northern Lights. There are many local tour companies but I chose to go alone and not be on a fixed schedule. Auroras here are directly overhead, arcing from East to West. The lights on the road are from a heavy fuel truck, one of many on their way to the Tibbitt to Contwoyto ice road to the diamond mines. During March there's a rush to transport supplies before the ice melts.
