A portrait of a Canada lynx in northern BC. This lynx is feeding on its deceased sibling (you can see some of the fur in the lower right corner) that was hit by a vehicle. I came upon the deceased lynx on the road and decided to move it off into the forest to prevent scavengers from also ending up like the dead lynx. Shortly after doing that a second lynx walked out of the woods, across the highway, and into the forest where the deceased lynx was. The next day I stopped to check on the scene and found the surviving lynx cannibalizing its sibling. It was a moment that reminded me how cruel nature can be. Despite the sad circumstances, it's nice to see this lynx making the most of the situation.
