Two Ruffed Grouse photographed at a reasonably close distance while I was lying on the ground. They stayed completely still which I suspect was because they would normally use their natural camouflage as a defense against potential threats or at least as long as the potential threat is not too close. I waited for a while hoping to photograph the mating display but eventually I backed away and left them to safely "go about their business".
