Ethical photography is something I take very seriously. I always ensure that I minimize any impact that my presence has on the wildlife and its surroundings. Some days you spend the whole day outside and despite your best efforts you comeback with no good photos, just happy memories of a good time spent in nature. Some days you’re hard work and intuition pays off and you’re at the right place at the right time. When I came across this Barred Owl, it was actively looking at several Red Squirrels that were searching for food in the forest. I was fortunate to witness the Owl making a successful hunt. In nature it's always a struggle to survive. Photo taken ethically (no baiting) with a very long telephoto (800mm) and heavily cropped.
