Redside dace are threatened in Ontario, and populations are still being lost. Sediment-filled water makes taking clear pictures of the remaining fish tricky, especially since they only breed using the nests of other species like common shiners. Putting my camera on a selfie stick ensured I didn't disturb the fish.
