After spending a few hours observing a Northern Harrier gliding and hunting for its next meal, an unexpected and fascinating encounter unfolded. A Short-eared Owl appeared, seemingly interested in the same prey, and what followed was an extraordinary aerial display. The two raptors engaged in a mesmerizing dance over the fields, vying to see who would claim the prize and enjoy the feast. I couldn’t tell who the ultimate winner was, but for me, witnessing and capturing this incredible moment was a victory in itself.
