A beaver looks in my direction while going about its business along the river's edge, with its other three family members nearby. I was sitting on the river's edge when I heard a "bloop" and a beaver head popped up from a hole in the melting ice. Once it climbed onto land, just a few feet from me, three more "bloops" followed from the hole in the ice. The beavers were not in distress - they came and stayed on their own accord with no baiting necessary (I am vehemently against baiting wild animals). I was the first to leave. Clearly, they were very comfortable because some even took a nap!
