An adorable Chestnut-Backed Chickadee, finding a snack in a fir cone. Sometimes the best photos come from moments when you didn't expect anything. I was waiting for a ferry in Brentwood Bay, outside Victoria BC, and had about half an hour to take photos. I wandered along a walking path, lined with shops and walkways down to the marina, and there were quite a few song birds hanging about. Chickadees can be tough to photograph because they're so quick! But I managed to capture this shot, which is one of my favourites.
