While deep in the wilderness of the Northwest Territories at a remote fly-in location (Namushka Lodge on Harding Lake), I was waiting for the first signs of aurora season this past August. Not only did the northern lights appear, but this incredible scene unfolded in front of me and stopped me in my tracks. In the land of the midnight sun, the Sturgeon Moon glowed as brightly as day, shining through the charred remains of a wildfire that destroyed the original Namushka Lodge after more than four decades of history. Finding beauty through tragedy is always something I look forward to seeing and capturing.
