I look out my window and see dark figures looming on one of my dock pilings. I walk outside and see two juvenile turkey vultures. With equal curiosity, we observe each other. Sunrise offered a muted light through the low-hanging morning cloud cover. Light plays off cocoa-colored feathers, gray eyes, and an upturned mouth as if to smile, lending a softness to this craggy-faced juvenile turkey vulture. They looked so innocent I had to capture the moment.
