Considering how quickly and energetically Dunlins move when searching for food, it's difficult to picture them ever being motionless, let alone encountering a group of them asleep. It was the strangest sight; I had never seen them so still before. This little one was all puffed up to conserve warmth, resembling a baseball made of feathers, and I couldn't resist photographing this adorable fluff ball, eyes closed in slumber, nestled in a bed of sea grass.
