When I saw these two dunlins I inwardly chuckled, one leaned in while the other turned away, standing on this log... the scene from Dirty Dancing was what came to mind. It was playful, fun, and nostalgic, and I'm so glad I managed to capture the moment. The scene takes place outdoors at the Esquimalt Lagoon, specifically during a low tide area with a small floating log. Despite her initial awkwardness, Baby is curious about this new world of dance and willing to embrace new experiences. Baby and Johnny are practicing the choreography for their rapid, fluttering performance and display flights over their territory. Baby is fearful and shy. Johnny leans in and tells Baby to let go of her inhibitions and learn to trust both Johnny and her own physical capabilities.
