I love my morning birding walks at home where I reside in the Kootenays. There is so much wildlife and I never know who I'm going to see. On this morning, a few Northern Flickers were hopping along old beached logs, picking away at them, likely in search of ants, beetles, or larvae. I sat quietly nearby on a log and just watched them. I take my camera everywhere. The fall colors and plumage of the flicker were a such pretty scene, and I snapped away taking photos as they made their way along the logs in the misty morning light.
