In the soft evening light of Nova Scotia’s shoreline, a piping plover chick—barely days old—takes its first curious look at the big, buzzing world. With fewer than 60 breeding pairs left in Nova Scotia, even tiny standoffs like this are a big deal. Each small step this endangered bird takes is a symbol of resilience in a race against extinction. This tiny shorebird is a rare and hopeful glimpse into a fragile future.
