This great grey owl was hunting about 200 feet away in a field when it suddenly took off and flew straight toward me. I kept clicking my shutter as it approached, until it got so close to my lens that it was too near to focus. Then, amazingly, it landed right on top of my lens and stayed there for about three minutes. It looked directly at me, and I just froze in delight. Using my lens as a perch, it scanned the area for voles before finally taking off and settling a few feet away on a fence post. An incredible experience.
