Most visitors to Banff National Park will have seen the high peaks covered with coniferous trees at the bottom and snow at the top, the turquoise waters of lakes like Louise, Moraine and Peyto, but few will experience the almost dessert like landscapes of that lie beyond the high ridge at Helen lake on the dolomite pass trail.
