I was sitting on the ground among grasses by a river, photographing pelicans with my 100-400mm lens. I never would have noticed this Northern Leopard Frog if he hadn't popped out of the grass to see what I was doing. He / she watched me for about a minute, and even hopped closer. I sat still and quietly watching the frog watch me. Finally the sun became to hot and the frog went back to the shade of the grass. He was too close for me to photograph with my telephoto lens so I had to back away about 4 feet to lie on the ground and get this photo.
