Some fish are keystone species, moving stones to excavate nests, which are used by other species. Here, we see a creek chub male, the nest builder, with a couple females nearby, along with several redside dace (endangered in Ontario) and a common shiner in the background, all intent on using the creek chub nest to spawn.
