This photograph captures a bumble bee hovering beside a purple thistle during a period of active foraging. Throughout the area, bumble bees moved continuously from flower to flower, rarely remaining at a single bloom for more than a few moments. The thistles were alive with pollinator activity, providing a valuable food source as the bees collected nectar and pollen.
