This photograph shows a female Snowy Owl hunting during a snow squall. It was my first time photographing this species in Ontario, and conditions were rapidly deteriorating as heavy snow reduced visibility across the open landscape. Despite the storm, the owl remained active, using a roadside perch to scan the surrounding area before shifting position and continuing to hunt. At times, it was partially obscured by blowing snow, briefly appearing and disappearing within the whiteout conditions. The encounter took place as daylight faded, with the owl continuing to work the landscape even as the storm intensified.
